Nisarga Priya (Love for Nature) is an umbrella brand conceived and created, towards our commitment to nature and environment friendly products. Our vision is to build and promote an environment friendly lifestyle for people around us, and create/spread awareness among people who did not have access to environment friendly lifestyle earlier. Nisarga Priya Resorts, our maiden time-share project, situated about 25Kms from Ooty and 20Kms from Coonoor and about 90 Kms from Coimbatore Airport with 2 scenic access roads from Ooty and Coonoor in a serene, picturesque, beautiful valley, along the souther slopes of the mighty Nilgiris bordering silent valley with a tiny forest inside the property.
Ooty proclaimed as “Queen of Hill Stations” by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, situated at 2240 meters from sea level (where as Nisarga Priya is at 1800 meters sea level), sprawls over an area of 50 sq km radius with number of hill slopes, covered with lush green carpet tea plants. Ooty woos people from all over India as well as foreign countries right through summer, and sometimes in the winter months too. An added attraction for the tourists to Ooty is the mountain train journey which commences from Kallar (near Mettupalayam) and winds its way through many hair-raising curves and awe-inspiring tunnels and chugs along beside deep ravines full of verdant vegetation, gurgling streams and tea gardens. The nearest airport is in Coimbatore, 90 km away. You can catch a direct flight to Coimbatore from Chennai, Kozhikode, Bangalore and Mumbai.
Another town which is closer to Nisarga Priya, Coonoor, provides the traveler with the panoramic view of the lush green Nilgiri hills, with its valleys and waterfalls. Bird watching is a popular pastime in Coonoor, as the area boasts of a large variety of species like cormorants, pipits, thrushes, parakeets, skylarks, Nilgiris verditer, etc. Travelers’ can take a walk through the tea gardens. There are number of trekking and hiking trails around Coonoor (and Ooty). Travelers can enjoy the exhilarating and unique ride on the mountain train that connects Coonoor with Mettupalaam and Ooty.
Kinnakorai – Once known for the coffee estates, One and half hour drive from Manjur bus stand, at Carrington Estate, the tea plantation stretches far as the eye can see. The rays of the sun cut across the middle of the deep green-gray valley part of which belongs to Kerala. As you walk down the quiet Carrington road en route to Kinnakorai, even the sound of twigs snapping under your feet gets magnified. Nearby is the Thaishola Tea estate, which grows organic tea. Carrington and Thiashola are among the oldest tea plantation in the Nilgiris. From the tea gardens, situated at an altitude of 6,000 ft above sea level, you can see the Geddai power station, winch route and the narrow, widing road. You can also spot Kolathurai, Attapadi and Anaikatti on a clear day.
Manjur Dam - A penstock or floodgate to regulate the flow of water. The penstock is one of the ten in the Nilgiris and is located in the quaintly named Nickval Town. The energy from the water, channeled through cast-iron pipes, is used to run a turbine and generate power at the Canada power station in Geddai. It is a beautiful and panoramic view to enjoy.
Chamraj Temple – The Hindu temple belongs to Amalgamated group, is a must see and close to Nisarga Priya and on the way to Manjur Dam.
Sims Park - the SIMS Park situated on the Northern side of Coonoor Railway Station at an elevation of 1768 to 1798 meters. The natural shola with winding footpaths all over the higher slopes of the park is the most distinctive and picturesque feature of this park. This apart a number of individual tree specimens planted in a scattered fashion all over the place, lend a special charm to the park, especially when they bloom in different seasons throughout the year.
Mudumalai & Bandipur Wildlife Sanctuaries- The Famous Mudumalai & Bandipur wild life Sanctuary is situated at an elevation of 1000 meters and extends over an area of 321 sq.mts. This sanctuary lies between Kerala and Karnataka states. This is India's one of the best sanctuaries. Nature has been lavish in providing this sanctuary with thickly wood hills, Plateaus, deep valleys, waterfalls, rivers, marshes and streams. The Sanctuary is rich in bio-diversity and dense vegetation, is sandwiched between the Bandipur and Aanaimalai sanctuaries, and together the three (Mudumalai, Bandipur and Aanaimalai) form the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve in the Western Ghats. The Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary has varied mixture of flat land, undulating parkland, open grassland, swamp and valleys. The best season to visit the sanctuary is during Feb - July. Langur, bonnet macaque, tiger, leopard, wild dog, hyena, jackal, sloth bear, elephants, gaur, sambar, spotted deer, mouse deer, wild boar, rodent and flying squirrel are part of the wildlife in Mudumalai. It has a rich bird life that includes Malabar Trogan, Grey hornbill, crested hawk eagle, crested serpent eagle, etc.
Safari & Jungle Trip - At Mudumalai & Bandipur Wildlife Sanctuaries you can go on the safari and travel across terrain that ranges from hills to valleys and forests, and from watercourses to swamps to catch a glimpse of hyenas, jackals, elephants, sloth bears and tigers. Not too far away just 40 km from Ooty, is the Nilgiri Thar Wildlife Sanctuary, a part of Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, where the fish always bite and the trekking is free. While the river and lakes of Mukurthi are perfect for trout fishing, if trekking is what you want to do, the route wends its way from parsan valley through Portimund. If Ooty seems too far away, then nearer the capital Chennai, is Kambakkam. Test your strength, Test your strength, Concentration and coordination on the low rocky hills of Kambakkam, which makes this the destination for rock climbing, camping and hiking.
We do not list here the so called 'popular' tourist places which are too crowded and commercial (like Doddabetta, Botonical Gardens, Ooty Lake, Boat House, Rose Garden etc) - you would any way get ample information on these from all other sites.
